Buriteri

Buriteri, also known as MARI, is a former egg Magazine model.

She was a trend-setter in the early 2000s within the Gyaru scene, and became a face for egg Magazine with her well-known cover from March 2000. She was also in a gyaru unit within egg magazine called Gonguro 3 Kyoudai with U (ゴングロ3兄弟withU), along with three other members.

Background

Buriteri was born on February 23, 1980; she is blood type A, and is 169cm tall.

Buriteri's nickname comes from the name 'Yellowtail Teriyaki', which can be shortened to Buri-teri in Japanese; the popular food is brown and yellow in color, which was meant to represent her on the cover of egg.

Style

• Heavy, dark foundation and tanning
• White and blue eye makeup above the eye, white makeup around the eye
• Pale or white lipstick
• Large platform boots
• Bright clothing, often wearing Hawaiian/summer motifs

Influence

It can be argued that Buriteri pioneered the Ganguro and Manba style, with many early styles of Gyaru being heavily inspired by Buriteri.
