Haaady Gyaru is a sub-style of Gyaru. Haady comes from the Japanese word Hade (派手), meaning flashy or in-your-face!
Haaady was a short-lived style that began around 2006 and peaked in popularity around 2009. It was coined by Kaoru Watanabe and is largely associated with her and her fashion brand JSG [1]. The style mostly fell out of popularity around 2011.
The style combines Gyaru makeup and culture with American and British rock and hip-hop styles, along with popular fashion and makeup styles from the 1980s.
